Large Cutting Discs

Large Cutting Discs

Large cutting discs are typically used for cutting various materials, including metal, concrete, rail, masonry, and other hard substances. These cutting discs are larger in diameter compared to standard cutting discs, which allows them to cut through thicker and larger workpieces more effectively.

Common uses in both heavy-duty industrial and construction applications include metal cutting, e.g. thick metal sheets and pipes; concrete/masonry/stone, to cut concrete slabs and blocks, and cutting of pipes made of metal, plastics and other materials.

One industry in particular that has a requirement for large cutting discs is rail. They are used to cut and trim railway tracks, which are typically made of steel. Proper maintenance of railway tracks involves cutting and replacing sections that are worn, damaged, or require alteration due to track realignment or repairs.

There is also a need for weld removal: in rail maintenance and repair, welding is often used to connect sections of the track. These cutting discs can be used to remove welds or cut rails for various purposes, including rail replacement and modifications.

Track maintenance is also an important application, as the rail industry relies on large cutting discs to perform maintenance tasks efficiently, ensuring the safe and smooth operation of trains. This includes the removal of damaged or worn sections of rail.
