What Belt Size Does My Belt Sanding Machine Use?
Sanding belt sizes can be tricky to identify — especially if you’ve inherited a machine without its label, or your model isn’t listed online. This guide shows how to find the correct size belt for your sander, whether by searching our model database or measuring one manually.
At-a-Glance: How to Identify Your Belt Size
| Method | What You’ll Need | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Search by Model | Manufacturer name (e.g. Fein), model number (e.g. KL150) | Quickly find the correct width and length in our database |
| Measure an Existing Belt | Old sanding belt, tape measure, flat surface | Record width (mm) × length (mm), e.g. 13 × 457mm |
How to Measure an Abrasive Belt
- Width: Measure straight across the belt from edge to edge.
- Length (Circumference): Lay the belt flat, measure end to end, then double the figure.
- Alternatively, split an old belt at the joint and measure its total length laid flat.
Belt Length = Belt Circumference
Common Sanding Belt Sizes
| Application | Typical Belt Size (mm) | Example Machine |
|---|---|---|
| File sanders | 13 × 457, 10 × 330, 19 × 520 | Dynabrade Dynafile, Makita 9032 |
| Portable belt sanders | 75 × 533, 100 × 610 | Makita 9404, Bosch GBS75A |
| Bench / pad sanders | 150 × 1220, 200 × 1500 | Record Power BDS150, Clarke CS4-6C |
Search the Belt Size Database
Use the searchable table below to find your sanding belt by manufacturer (e.g. Fein), model (e.g. KL150), or belt width/length (e.g. 13, 457).

Measuring Example
| Step | Action | Example Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Lay belt flat | Place on a table and measure from end to end | 228.5 mm |
| 2. Double the result | Multiply by two to find circumference | 457 mm |
| 3. Record the width | Measure across the belt | 13 mm |
| 4. Combine | List as Width × Length | 13 × 457mm |
