Guide to Polishing Brass, Copper & Zinc
Guide to Polishing Brass, Copper & Zinc
Depending on the state of the metal substrate you may need to start with an abrasive. If you need advice on the correct abrasives and/or tools for your polishing application please contact us via phone/email or our site visit request form and we will recommend the best products for the job.
SAIC provides hand held, bench and floor mounted polishing machines to cover all polishing applications. Contact us for further details.
Once you have reached the desired finish using your abrasives we then suggest moving onto using polishing mops and compounds.
If the substrate is in poor condition we would recommend starting with a cut & colour compound such as SAIC Green BG and a white stitch mop. If however the substrate is in a medium to good condition we would suggest using a tripolea compound such as SAICTRIP HC or Cannings Lustre with a white stitch mop. Either of these will remove scratch marks and brighten up ready for the next stage.
For a bright / mirror finish we would recommend SAIC Hi-Brite Green Compound or Cannings Burns Rouge with a WDR loosefold mop. This will produce a very bright high quality final finish.
** Please bear in mind that this is a broad guide to metal polishing. For a more in-depth, specific guide we will happily look at your application and make exact recommendations based on your requirements.
